2ndly Jasper is a CONFEDERATE soldier. That means he was against african americans rights.

I don't think she's racist... I think she wrote without realizing she hadn't included many ethnic groups. When it comes to Jasper being a confederate soldier, it all comes down to this: there were many confederate soldiers. Are their sons and daughters and grandchildren against American rights? No, because time has changed. As for her "not liking blacks", that's just rumors from Stephanie Meyer haters. I don't love her or hate her, but I do believe she's just what she says she is; a normal mother who had a good idea. Did it become a "good" book? That's up to each individual reader.
