how to dye mother of pearl or conch shell?

Hmmm. I'm assuming you want to tint a piece of shell while maintaining its original texture? There is an alcohol based ink dye called "Pinata Color" by Jacquard. It is a vibrant dye that its transparent and very saturated. It is permanent, and I've seen it used on non-porous surfaces like buttons, glass beads, etc. I have no reason to belive that it won't work on shell. I hope this helps.
