old world war 2 movies.?

has it ever occured to you alot of old ww2 films from 40s-70's were well...not AUTHENTIC. im talking like movies like battle of the bulge, devils brigade, To hell and back-even though that had a good story...Bridge on the River Qwai or however you spell it, the Japanese in it had sten guns and vickers machine guns....not exactly true there either.

Movies that arent authentic get on my nerves. some people don't care, or maybe they don't even know that the vehicles and equipment used in movies are american??? Who knows but id have to say prolly some of the more authentic movies in those period were Battle of Britain, Bridge at Remagen, The Great Escape, Where Eagles Dare..and so forth. let me know if theres any other reall good authentic movies from those time periods. cause im trying to find some that have german/japanese/italian equipment.

oh and also i have already seen von ryans express, tora tora tora, cross of iron, the eagles have landed...so cross those off the list.

I dont recall the sten guns in bridge over the river kwai...I do recall the vickers, and part of the japanese sentries are carrying SMLE's however the japanese did capure a lot of british materials in burma and singapore and reissue it to rear units,prison details and second line troops (they did the same thing with captured dutch weapons in the east indies and US weapons in the phillipines ) the japanese (and even the germans to a lesser extent) didnt waste any captured weapons ,so the weapons were possibly semi-correct,but by accident only.. the errors in movies like bridge over river kwai (or getting it right accidently maybe) were caused by movie studios using what they had,rather than worrying about what was correct,most older films they didnt have the correct stuff so improvised, even great war movies,most of the japanese planes ,arent,they just repainted american planes as there werent enough japanese ones that survived to make a beginning on a movie with.Watch any old,or even new movie with a historic plot and know anything about the time its set in and you'll see horrible flaws..Braveheart,saving private Ryan, the last samurai, and enemy at the gates all come to mind as having issues historically or weapon wise..and all the old westerns had major issues,How many civil war era movies show everyone carrying solid frame colt SAA's or winchester rifles? the old "combat" series wasnt great shows, but showed a lot of neat german equippment, and the recent "letters from iwo jima" was about the best yet for showing the japanese forces somewhat accurately..movies are about telling a story, not teaching a history lesson,and the weapons or what happens doesnt need to be historically accurate to make a good tale,as a major history buff and weapons collector I find it best if I take any "historic" or "based on a true event" movie as just entertainment and not dwell to much on the flaws or it just ruins the movie..I doubt theres ever been one made that didnt have logistic issues if you really study it.
